Adding Wirecast as a Source

Launch the presenter console and go to Sources>Add New>Wirecast

Title the source and enable Go Live Automatically if you would like the source added to the scene automatically when the webcast starts.  In addition, you can upload Default Source Media and enable Include Failover Source.  Click SAVE.

By selecting the ellipsis to the right of the Wirecast source, you can: 

  • Edit the source title, add Default Source Media and select/create a Failover Source  (pencil icon)
  • Review the source details, launch Wirecast and download an Encoder template (information icon)
  • Delete the source (trash can icon)

By selecting Source Details (information icon), you will be presented with the following options:

  • Wirecast Launch URL: provide the direct link to an onsite producer to launch Wirecast and have all the Studio settings automatically populated in Wirecast
  • Launch Wirecast: this will automatically open Wirecast and create an output for you
  • StreamID:  can be inserted in the Stream field in Wirecast
  • Stream URL: can be inserted in the Address field in Wirecast
  • Frame Size: indicates the webcasts frame size (Setup>Settings)
  • Frame Rate: indicates the webcasts frame rate (Setup>Settings)
  • Target Video Bitrate: indicates the webcasts video bitrate (Setup>Settings)
  • Download Encoder Template: download the encoder template and import into Wirecast

When you select Launch Wirecast or click/copy-paste the Wirecast Launch URL, you will be prompted to open Wirecast.  Select Open Wirecast.

Immediately, Wirecast will create an Output.  Select OK.

Drop-down Output from the top toolbar and select Output Settings.

First, update the following:

  • Name: name the output appropriately
  • Encoding:  select the correct Encoding Profile that matches the webcast settings. 
    • Example:  if the Frame Size is 640x360 (360p), the Encoding Profile to select is Studio: 360p (640x360) 16:9 (1328Kbps)

Next, confirm the the following is correct:

  • Address field contains the correct Stream URL
  • Stream contains the correct StreamID

Once complete, click OK.

Alternatively, if you prefer to Download Encoder Template and import the XML file to Wirecast, follow the below steps.

 Open Wirecast and drop-down Output from the top toolbar and select Output Settings.

 Select RTMP Server as the Output Destination.  Click OK.

Select Open FMLE XML File and upload the XML file.

First, update the following:

  • Name: name the output appropriately
  • Encoding:  select the correct Encoding Profile that matches the webcast settings. 
    • Example:  if the Frame Size is 640x360 (360p), the Encoding Profile to select is Default: 360p30 (0.75Mbps) x264 H.264

Next, confirm the following is correct:

  • Address field contains the correct Stream URL
  • Stream contains the correct StreamID

Once complete, click OK.

If the encoder template doesn't want to upload, manually enter the below information from the template into the Encoder Presets.  

  • Video Codec (H.264)
  • Bitrate
  • Width & Height (resolution)
  • Frame Rate (FPS)
  • Profile

Once Wirecast is setup, start the encoder live stream.  The Wirecast source in Studio will now display a preview of the live stream.  To test the live stream and audio, add the source to the scene.
